On October 16th, the 2023 Tianfu Book Fair briefing was held at the main venue. It is reported that the number of offline visitors to the main venue exceeded 100,000, an increase of more than 3.8 times compared to the previous year. As of 11 am on October 16th, a total of 55 million people participated in this year's Tianfu Book Fair, achieving a total sales revenue of 151 million yuan, of which online retail sales were 77.05 million yuan, offline retail sales were 16.3 million yuan, library book supplier transactions were 49.57 million yuan, and cultural and creative product sales were 8.28 million yuan, all of which set new records compared to previous years.
The theme of this year's book fair is "Mutual Learning Among Cultures Amid Fragrance of Books". This year, Tianfu Book Fair adopts "Domestic and International Synchronization, Integration of Online and Offline Platforms, Combination of Exhibition and Sales, and Promotion of Nationwide Reading" approach. Nearly 40 publishing and media groups, more than 600 publishing and distribution units, more than 100 library book suppliers, and many cultural and creative institutions participated, exhibiting 800,000 types of books, presenting a grand, exciting, innovative, and safe publishing industry event and national reading carnival for readers.
This year's book fair closely follows the theme of "Continuing the Chinese Cultural Heritage", excavating and displaying the unique cultural connotations of Sichuan's cultural heritage, such as Bashu culture, Sanxingdui culture, and three Su scholars' culture, bringing a rich, novel, and unique traditional cultural festival to the public.
This year's book fair invited all national industry associations and specialized institutions covering news publishing, distribution, and copyright to attend, and organized more than 10 major national events. The organizing committee distributed 5 million yuan worth of cultural vouchers to readers, and launched a series of book discount activities both online and offline. A total of 998 cultural activities were held, an increase of 1.3 times compared to the last year, inviting many well-known authors such as Jidi Majia, Zhang Ping, Wang Yuewen, Luo Pinghan, Hunzhi Team, Cao Wenxuan, A Lai, and Pu Yixing to bring a wonderful reading culture feast to readers across the country. This year's book fair was held in rural libraries, schools, communities, government agencies, and enterprises, and launched many public welfare cultural activities such as the Ebian Rural Library branch venue launching ceremony, the New Era Rural Reading Season book donation, and the Zhejiang-Sichuan Friendship Lighting Reading Micro-wish. It also provided high-quality e-books, audiobooks, and other free reading resources to readers on multiple platforms, turning the book fair into a cultural event at the doorstep of the people.
The 2023 Tianfu Book Fair has set up multiple international cultural exchange platforms, and for the first time, an International Pavilion has been established in the main exhibition hall, organizing the display of more than 1,500 foreign language original books. For the first time, eight branch venues and exhibition areas in overseas countries and regions were set up in countries such as the UK, Germany, France, and Australia, holding a total of eight categories and more than 30 cultural activities. The German branch venue held a special opening ceremony, inviting more than 50 guests from China and Germany. For the first time, more than 20 famous overseas writers and publishing professionals such as Bill Porter were invited to participate in the Tianfu Book Fair in Chengdu. A series of international cultural exchange activities were held, including the "International Children's Publishing Forum", "Symposium on Overseas Libraries and Chinese Publishing Industry", fully showcasing China's image to the world, demonstrating the charm of Sichuan, and striving to create a new highland of openness, inclusiveness, and cultural exchange.
This year's book fair has innovatively integrated the exhibition mode, while organizing offline sales, it has also enhanced cultural consumption momentum through full-network linkage and shared by the public. Together with the "Learning Power" Xinhua Bookstore online bookstore, JD, Tmall Books, Dangdang, Pinduoduo, VIPSHOP, Douyin, and other platforms, it has created a "TFBF Cloud World" online exhibition hall. In the main exhibition hall, there are many special exhibition areas such as the education service experience area, smart reading area, cultural and creative sales area, and parent-child reading area, forming many "popular check-in spots" at the book fair. In addition, a game and animation exhibition area was set up for the first time, and many well-known game and animation companies such as Bilibili, Google, and NetEase brought readers a wonderful sensory experience. The wonderful exhibition design has brought a high popularity to the book fair.
